Sometimes all you need is a hug. A photo of an orphaned kangaroo hugging a teddy bear is pulling on the heartstrings of people on social media.

Timothy Beshara, who lives in Tasmania, off the coast of Australia, tweeted a photo of the young kangaroo named "Doodlebug" on Tuesday.

In the picture, the kangaroo holds tightly to a teddy bear that is suspended from a tree. Beshara explains in the tweet that his mother, a wildlife caretaker, took the picture of the orphaned kangaroo.

The image quickly went viral as people from around the world took notice of the adorable moment.

Beshara tweeted that the photo proves, "the value of a good hug." Beshara said his mother, Gillian, who works for the rescue organization WIRES, has been caring for the young kangaroo, the Huffington Post reported.

The kangaroo responded to the teddy bear, "much in the same way as a toddler," Beshara told theDaily Mail.

"They treat it as a companion," he said.

Beshara said, "Doodlebug" is undergoing a "soft release," and will eventually return to the wild, the Huffington Post reported.
