Mom bares body, heart to teach lesson in self-love

An Idaho mom lets her guard down in a very public display of self-love.

BOISE -- Amy Pence-Brown describes herself as a "nearly 40-year-old fat feminist mother," and she's proud of it.

"All bodies are good bodies," she said, echoing the lesson she teaches her young children.

To prove her point, the Idaho artist and writer made a bold move at Boise's Capital City Public Market.

In the middle of a bustling crowd, she stripped down to her bikini, put on a blindfold and invited strangers to comment on her body, literally.

In her hands, she held out markers. At her feet stood a sign reading "I'm standing for anyone who has struggled with a self-esteem issue like me, because all bodies are valuable. To support self-acceptance, draw a (heart) on my body."

"I was really worried no one would draw a heart," Pence-Brown said.

She smiled, but prepared herself for negativity.
