'The Simpsons' salutes Alan Rickman and David Bowie

The Simpsons, a show that's been turning to face the strange for a quarter-century now, paid tribute to this week's two departed talents Friday on Twitter.

The Fox series posted a clip of a Love, Actually parody (in which Rickman played a philadering husband) from Season 24's "Love Is a Many Splintered Thing," which featured the Bowie-penned track All the Young Dudes and Benedict Cumberbatch  doing his best Severus Snape.

If you need us, we'll be over here watching Diehard and listening to Hunky Dory  amid a mounting heap of tissues. We were almost doing OK there for a bit but then we saw this and got verklempt all over again:
