CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Browns linebacker Joe Schobert has been added to the 2018 AFC Pro Bowl roster, the team announced Tuesday.

Schobert is the first Browns defensive player to earn Pro Bowl recognition since safeties Tashaun Gipson and Donte Whitner joined cornerback Joe Haden at the NFL’s annual all-star game following the 2015 season.

Schobert is the first Browns linebacker to earn Pro Bowl honors since Jamir Miller following the 2002 season.

A fourth-round pick of the Browns in the 2016 NFL Draft out of the University of Wisconsin, Schobert tied for first in the league in tackles (144) this past season. Additionally, Schobert forced three fumbles, registered three sacks, defended four passes and corralled one interception.

One of just three NFL players on the field for every defensive snap of the season, Schobert set single-season career highs for starts (16), tackles (144), solo stops (87), assists (57), passes defended (four), interceptions (one) and sacks (three).

Schobert replaces Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier, who is unable to play because of a severe back injury suffered in a Monday Night Football win over the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati on December 4.
