WATCH | Cleveland Indians 2B Jason Kipnis hits sixth home run of the spring

The Indians second baseman appears to be regaining his All-Star form.

What began as a hot start carried into a second week when Jason Kipnis hit his sixth home run of Spring Training on Tuesday afternoon

Kipnis' home run, a 2-run shot, gave the Cleveland Indians a 3-1 lead over the Cincinnati Reads in the top of the third inning of their Tuesday matchup in Goodyear, Ariz. The Reds went on to win the game by a score of 7-6.

The story of the day, from Cleveland's perspective, however, will be Kipnis, whose Tuesday home run marked his sixth in as many games this spring.

In 17 at-bats, the Indians' second baseman has compiled 9 hits, including his 6 home runs, to go along with 12 RBIs and 6 runs scored. Kipnis' strong start is an encouraging sign for Cleveland following what was an admittedly down year for the 2-time All-Star.

Due to multiple injuries, Kipnis appeared in just 90 games last season -- his lowest total since first being called up to the big leagues in 2011. Batting a career-low .232, the 30-year-old was moved from second base to centerfield upon returning from a hamstring injury late in the season.

Entering 2018, Indians manager Terry Francona insisted on returning Kipnis to his natural position in hopes he'd return to his All-Star form. And while it may still only be Spring Training, so far, the results have only been so good.
