Sierra Day and Deonte Lewis are both facing aggravated murder charges.

EUCLID -- A mother and her boyfriend accused of killing a Euclid 4-year-old have been charged with aggravated murder.

Charges against Sierra Day, 23, and Deonte Lewis, 26, were filed Tuesday morning after 4-year-old Aniya Day-Garrett was admitted to Euclid Hospital, where she died Sunday. The pair made their first court appearance Tuesday. Bond was set at $1 million each.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner ruled Tuesday that Aniya died from cerebral infarction as a result of blunt impacts to her head, adding that she was also malnourished.

Aniya's father, Mickhal Garrett, was also in attendance Tuesday for Sierra's bond hearing. Garrett had been fighting for custody of Aniya prior to her death.
