CLEVELAND -- Opening Day at Progressive Field is still two weeks away, but the Cleveland Indians have already announced plans for the annual tradition.

As first reported by WKYC's Chris Tye, Olympic gold medalist snowboarder and Rocky River native Red Gerard will throw out the ceremonial first pitch when the Tribe hosts the Seattle Mariners on Friday, April 6, for their first home game of the 2018 season.

In addition to Gerard's ceremonial pitch, the Indians will hold a pre-game ceremony to unveil their 2017 American League Central Division championship banner. The team also plans on recognizing Jose Ramirez and Francisco Lindor's Silver Slugger Awards, as well as Corey Kluber's second career Cy Young.

The National Anthem will be performed by the Ohio State University Athletic Band, which will also perform the official rock song of Ohio, "Hang on Sloopy" during the game. Members of all esteemed branches of the military will present the colors, while 250 employees of Progressive unveil a giant American flag.

All gates will open at 2 p.m., which is the same time entertainment -- featuring the band Tricky Dick & The Cover-Ups -- will begin in the Right Field District.

First pitch for what will be the Indians' 25th Home Opener at Progressive Field is scheduled for 4:10.p.m.
