U.S. Marshals capture suspect wanted for aggravated murder of Cleveland Heights mother

35-year-old Yaphet Bradley is accused of murdering Miriam Johnson. He was captured in Shaker Square.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force have captured the man wanted for the murder of Miriam Johnson.

The Task Force arrested 35-year-old Yaphet Bradley near Shaker Square on Friday evening around 6:30 p.m. Marshals say Bradley rammed one of their vehicles in an attempt to flee the scene. He was taken into custody along with 25-year-old Alexandria Kozlowski, who had outstanding warrants for felony drug possession in Parma.

Bradley is being held on charges of Aggravated Murder and Abuse of a Corpse. Cleveland Heights Police say he will be in court sometime next week.

Police arrested 24-year-old Calvin Young on Wednesday for having a role in the death of Johnson. He is facing charges of tampering with evidence, obstructing official business and abuse of a corpse.

Johnson's body was found in a trash can behind a vacant home on Chamberlain Avenue last Thursday. She was shot in the head and had multiple stab wounds. The mother of four had been reported missing by family going back to Feb. 26.

On Friday evening, the Johnson family released the following statement after the capture of Yaphet Bradley:

“We are extremely grateful to the Cleveland Heights Police Department, the US Marshals and the rest of the task force for their hard work and dedication to finding the individuals responsible for Miriam's death. While this definitely gives us some comfort, we know that this is the beginning of a long process and we are confident that justice will be served. We would also like to thank our friends, family and the city of Cleveland for their love and support throughout this process.”
