Cleveland Indians right fielder Tyler Naquin (30) hits a two RBI double in the fourth inning against the Kansas City Royals at Progressive Field.

As if Friday night's 10-9 loss (after blowing a five-run lead) to the lowly Kansas City Royals wasn't bad enough for the Indians, things only got worse on Saturday.

The team has officially placed outfielder Tyler Naquin on the 10-day disabled list after he injured his left hamstring running the bases during the fourth inning Friday. While he initially stayed in the game, he was soon lifted for a defensive replacement, and further tests revealed he had strained the muscle.

Naquin, who finished third in the 2016 American League Rookie of the Year voting, has been a pleasant surprise this season after being largely an afterthought in 2017. In 30 games, the 27-year-old has hit .333 with 11 RBIs and has also saved five defensive runs in the outfield.

It is unknown how much time Naquin will miss, and his absence creates another hole in an already thin outfield core with Lonnie Chisenhall also on the DL. For the time being, lefty reliever Tyler Olson will take Naquin's place on the roster after being taken off the paternity list.
