Indians fans are about to come down with a case of "Bieber Fever."
The club officially recalled right-hander Shane Bieber from AAA Columbus Thursday, and the No. 3 prospect in Cleveland's organization will make his Major League debut tonight as the starting pitcher against the Minnesota Twins.
Bieber, who turns 23 today, was selected in the fourth round of the 2016 draft and has moved quickly through the minor leagues. He began this season by going 2-1 with a 1.05 ERA in five starts for AA Akron, before dazzling in Columbus with a 3-0 record and a 1.16 ERA. He has walked just 15 batters in 262.2 minor league innings, and recently tossed a no-hitter in a rain-shortened seven-inning game.
To make room for Bieber, the Tribe optioned reliever Ben Taylor to the Clippers, and also moved right-hander Nick Goody from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-dat DL. Goody has been out since May 3 with a right elbow injury.
Bieber will face off with the Twins' Jake Odorizzi at 8:10 p.m. from Minneapolis.
