Police: Suspect pistol-whipped 60-year-old man mowing lawn in Akron's Goodyear Heights neighborhood

Akron police say a 60-year-old Tallmadge man was pistol-whipped while he was mowing a lawn in the Goodyear Heights neighborhood Monday evening.

The victim told officers the suspect approached him from behind and demanded money before pointing a gun straight at him. Both men then engaged in a "scuffle" on Cree Ave. before the suspect hit the victim several times over the head with the gun before running away.

No money or possessions were stolen, and the victim suffered only minor injuries. The suspect is described as being between 30 and 40 years old with a height around 5-foot-9 or 5-foot-10 and a weight between 180 and 200 pounds. He was wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans at the time of the incident.
