CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Browns will be without the services of linebacker Christian Kirksey and tight end Seth DeValve when they face the New Orleans Saints at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans Sunday.

DeValve will miss the game because of hamstring injuries, while Kirksey is working his way through shoulder and ankle issues.

Kirksey was listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report, while DeValve was added to the list prior to the Browns’ flight to New Orleans on Saturday afternoon.

Kirksey will miss his first game since being selected by the Browns in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of the University of Iowa. The St. Louis, Missouri native played in 65 straight games for the Browns with 46 starts in his five years with the organization.

One of Cleveland’s five permanent captains for the 2018 regular season, Kirksey registered five tackles, including three solo stops, with one pass deflection in the Browns’ season-opening 21-21 tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers at FirstEnergy Stadium last Sunday.

In five years with the Browns, Kirksey has registered 435 total tackles, including 272 solo stops and 163 assists, with 11.5 sacks, 12 passes defended and four forced fumbles.

DeValve saw action on special teams and in certain personnel groupings on offense against the Steelers. DeValve made the team when the 53-man roster was set over Labor Day Weekend despite missing most of training camp and all of the preseason with a soft-tissue injury.

In addition, Josh Gordon had been ruled out as well with similar hamstring issues, but the issue became moot later Saturday afternoon when the Browns announced they would released the oft-troubled wide receiver on Monday.
