Are more hard knocks ahead for the Cleveland Browns? -- Bud Shaw's You Said It

Cleveland sports fans wonder about the Browns as "America's Team," the Haslams interest in soccer and the Houston Astros surveillance of the Indians dugout in Game 3.

CLEVELAND — "You Said It" is a reader participation column based on the premise that if you don't laugh about Cleveland sports you'll cry.

And that if you do laugh about Cleveland sports, you might still end up crying. But at least friends and family will like being around you more.

YOU SAID IT

Bud: Are the Browns still "America's team?” — Jim Walsh, Olmsted Falls.

If you mean in the same way Americans never lost interest in planking and the ice bucket challenge, yes.

Bud: Please tell us Tribe fans one more time why Jesus Aguilar didn’t fit in? — Jim Corrigan, Fairview Park.

It wasn’t so much they struggled to come up with at-bats for him as it was Tito -- in conjunction with veterans like Klubes, Gomer, Kip and Cookie -- struggled to come up with an easy nickname.

Bud: In the rugged Central Division, the Indians finished 13 games in front of the dominant Twins who were six games below .500. Do you think the Indians champagne-soaked clubhouse celebration was a wee bit contrived? — M.G. Skid, Warrensville Hts.

As someone who pops open the J. Roget Brut whenever a You Said It submission has subject, verb, object or no crayon smears, I’m probably not the one to judge.

Bud: The Indians filed a complaint with MLB about the Astros taking dugout video during Game 3 of the ALDS. Could that have been the difference in Houston's 11-3 win? -- Bill.

I feel the same about the impact of that on the 11-3 beating as I would if you had told me Edwin's parrot couldn't make the game because of sickness.

Bud: I saw Conor McGregor at the Cowboys game trying to throw a football. It was pathetic. Would you tell him for me? — Tim.

Since my policy is to avoid angering UFC fighters of any size, I’ll get right on that as soon as I finish spitting into the wind.

Bud: Did the Haslams purchase the Columbus Crew to develop a place kicker? — O. Bill Stone.

I thought the same. But in the last couple weeks a highly placed Browns source told me the team is “very content with whatsisname.”

Bud: Saw a picture of the fans holding up letters to spell “BAKER” in the stands. After the “GPODAWUND” incident is anybody else surprised that the letters didn't spell out “ERBAK?” — Eddie Vidmar.

After the last 20 years I’m often just surprised there are signs at all. Or fans to hold them.

Bud: Are Dodgers’ fans the only fans in Major League Baseball who wave ‘rally ascots?’ — Jim Corrigan, Fairview Park.

You Said It “winners” are in an underclass by themselves.
