MLB says no violations found after Cleveland Indians, other teams accuse Houston Astros of cheating

MLB says it considers the matter closed.

Major League Baseball on Wednesday issued a statement saying it found no rules violations against the Houston Astros after other organizations accused the team of cheating.

The accusations became public when Metro Boston and Metro New York reported that a man claiming to be an Astros employee was removed from a credential-only area near the Boston Red Sox dugout at Fenway Park. The man reportedly had a camera and was texting frequently, though he did not have a media credential.

The Indians also filed a compliant against the Astros to MLB about a man attempting to film their dugout during the American League Division Series. The Associated Press reports a man with a cellphone was removed by security numerous times as he stood near the photographers' pit at Progressive Field. That man reportedly had a credential that was requested by the Astros.

MLB said in its statement that it investigated the incidents and concluded that an Astros employee had been "monitoring the field to ensure that the opposing Club was not violating any rules."

The statement also said all remaining teams in the postseason were notified to "refrain from these types of efforts."

MLB concluded the statement with, "We consider the matter closed."
