4:42 p.m.-CLEVELAND BROWNS FALL TO TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS, 26-23

Redemption is sweet for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Chandler Catanzaro.

After missing an extra point early in the game, as well as a game-winning 40-yard field goal attempt as the fourth quarter came to an end, Catanzaro atoned for the miscues when he hit a 59-yard field goal late in the overtime to beat the Cleveland Browns, 26-23, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, Sunday.

Initially, it looked as though Catanzaro pushed the kick from the right hash mark wide to the right, but a late curve in the trajectory of the ball worked it just inside the upright for the game-winner.

The Browns (2-4-1) dropped their second overtime game on the road this season and are on a two-game losing streak, while the Buccaneers snapped a three-game skid with the victory.

3:59 p.m.-BAKER MAYFIELD THROWS GAME-TYING TD PASS TO JARVIS LANDRY

Now, that is more like it.

The Cleveland Browns were stopped on fourth-and-goal inside the Tampa Bay one-yard line, but after a defensive stop and explosive punt return from safety Jabrill Peppers, the offense found their way into the end zone and drew even with the Buccaneers, 23-23, with 3:28 to play in regulation at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield found wide receiver Jarvis Landry over the middle of the field at the Tampa Bay one-yard line, and knowing that he had not been touched down, the veteran pass-catcher scrambled his way into the end zone for the touchdown.

Kicker Greg Joseph tacked on the game-tying extra point try.

On first-and-10 from the Tampa Bay 16-yard line, Mayfield took the shotgun snap and started his wind up for the pass before his back foot planted into the ground. With Landry behind a pair of Tampa Bay defenders, Mayfield muscled the throw downfield to his most-veteran receiver.

Landry laid out for the diving catch, and quickly extended the ball across the goal line for his second receiving touchdown of the season.

3:32 p.m.-NICK CHUBB DRAWS CLEVELAND BROWNS TO WITHIN ON SCORE OF BUCCANEERS

The Cleveland Browns placed a lot of faith in rookie running back Nick Chubb when they dealt veteran rusher Carlos Hyde to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft after Friday’s practice, and he took that belief into the end zone early in the fourth quarter against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium Sunday.

Chubb capped off a seven-play, 75-yard drive that took more than three minutes off the clock with a one-yard touchdown run that drew the Browns to within a score of the Buccaneers, 23-16, with 12:17 to play in the fourth quarter in Tampa, Florida.

One play after wide receiver Antonio Callaway drew a pass-interference penalty in the end zone, which moved the ball to the Tampa Bay one-yard line, Chubb took a handoff from quarterback Baker Mayfield, followed blocks on the right side of the offensive line and plowed into the end zone for his third score of the season.

Chubb accounted for 62 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries through three-plus quarters of work against the Buccaneers.

3:23 p.m.-BUCCANEERS GET THIRD RUSHING TOUCHDOWN OVER BROWNS

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had just one rushing touchdown in their first five games of the 2018 regular season, but they have found the end zone on the ground, early and often, against the Cleveland Browns at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

Running back Ronald Jones rushed for a two-yard touchdown, and Tampa Bay’s third rushing score of the game gave the Buccaneers a 23-9 lead over the Browns late in the third quarter.

On first-and-goal from the Cleveland two-yard line, Jones took a handoff from quarterback Jameis Winston out of the shotgun formation, followed through a hole in the Browns’ defense created by left guard Ali Marpet and sprinted into the end zone.

Jones’ two-yard touchdown was his first scoring run in the National Football League.

2:46 p.m.-BROWNS CONVERT TURNOVER INTO TOUCHDOWN

The Cleveland Browns have struggled to convert turnovers into touchdowns through the first seven games of the 2018 regular season, and the same proved true during the first half of play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but that changed early in the third quarter at Raymond James Stadium Sunday.

After the defense forced a third Buccaneers turnover, quarterback Baker Mayfield threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to tight end David Njoku, which drew the Browns to within one score of Tampa Bay, 16-9, with 13:01 to play in the third quarter.

On first-and-10 from the Tampa Bay 15-yard line, Mayfield took the shotgun snap from center JC Tretter, looked left and fired a pass to Njoku in the left back corner of the end zone. Njoku had enough separation from safety Isaiah Johnson to haul in the pass and get both feet down in bounds for his second receiving touchdown of the year.

On second-and-six from the Tampa Bay 29-yard line, Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston dropped back to pass the football, but defensive end Myles Garrett had other ideas. After getting around left tackle Donovan Smith with a speed rush, Garrett stripped the ball from Winston.

Rookie linebacker Genard Avery recovered the ball at the Tampa Bay 33-yard line and returned it seven yards to the 26, which set up the three-play scoring drive for the Browns.

1:58 p.m.-JAMEIS WINSTON RUSHES FOR TD, EXTENDS BUCCANEERS’ LEAD

Thanks to second chances because of defensive penalties and solid play in all facets of the offense, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers continued to roll on their fourth possession of the game against the Cleveland Browns at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

Quarterback Jameis Winston capped off a 10-play, 75-yard scoring drive with a 14-yard touchdown run, which gave the Buccaneers a 16-2 lead over the Browns with 7:58 to play in the second quarter.

Out of the shotgun formation, Winston took the snap and surveyed the field for an open receiver, but after being forced to step up in the pocket and having no targets to throw to, he tucked the ball and ran. With a wide-open running lane, Winston got upfield, and as four Browns defenders closed the gap, he dove for the end zone.

Winston’s rushing score was Tampa Bay’s second of the game. The Buccaneers came into Sunday’s contest against the Browns with just one rushing touchdown in their first five games.

Tampa Bay’s second touchdown drive of the game was extended twice by Browns penalties on third-down plays.

First, the Buccaneers had a third-and-10 from Cleveland’s 19-yard line when linebacker Christian Kirksey was flagged for illegal contact. Although the penalty was a five-yard infraction, it came with an automatic first down.

Then, on third-and-four from the Cleveland eight-yard line, defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah jumped offsides and gave Tampa Bay the necessary yardage for the first down.

1:41 p.m.-BUCCANEERS EXTEND LEAD OVER BROWNS

After giving up a safety on their first possession of the game, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers found their rhythm offensively, and used the positive momentum to extend their lead over the Cleveland Browns on the first play of the second quarter at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

Courtesy of a 14-yard run from wide receiver DeSean Jackson, the Buccaneers took a 9-2 lead over the Browns with 14:54 to play in the second quarter.

Starting the play on the right side of the formation, Jackson took a handoff from quarterback Jameis Winston, who faked a draw play to the running back before giving the ball to the veteran receiver, and with three players out in front to block, he turned the corner and got to the sideline.

Although an angle for the end zone narrowed when the Browns recovered from the play fake, Jackson utilized his speed to outhustle the defenders and worked his way across the goal line for Tampa Bay’s second rushing touchdown of the season.

1:28 p.m.-BUCCANEERS TAKE 3-2 LEAD OVER BROWNS

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers responded to the adversity of an early safety when they got a defensive stop, and then, built a scoring drive that resulted in a 3-2 lead over the Cleveland Browns with 3:02 to play in the first quarter at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

The Buccaneers built an 11-play, 52-yard drive that kicker Chandler Catanzaro capped off with a 38-yard field goal.

Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston completed three of his six attempts for 40 yards on the drive.

1:13 p.m.-BROWNS TAKE 2-0 LEAD ON SAFETY

The Cleveland Browns came close to getting a safety on their first defensive snap of the game, and after narrowly missing on that first scrimmage play, they took advantage of the second chance and brought down Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Peyton Barber two yards deep in the end zone for the score.

Defensive tackle Trevon Coley registered the tackle for lost yardage and gave the Browns a 2-0 lead over the Buccaneers with 9:18 to play in the first quarter at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

The Browns got good push against the left side of Tampa Bay’s formation, and as quarterback Jameis Winston handed off to Barber, the defense filled the gaps, shut down the running lanes and stopped the ball-carrier behind the line of scrimmage for the score.

The safety was set up by a standout play on special teams.

After the Browns’ eight-play, 19-yard opening drive stalled near midfield, veteran punter Britton Colquitt launched a 55-yard punt that was downed at the Tampa Bay one-yard line by rookie defensive back Tavierre Thomas.

12:00 p.m.-BROWNS LOOK TO FINISH, GET FIRST ROAD WIN SINCE 2015

CLEVELAND -- Road wins have been hard to come by for the Cleveland Browns in recent years, and through the first six weeks of the 2018 regular season, the same has held true, as they have fallen short in New Orleans and Oakland.

However, Browns Coach Hue Jackson is convinced that one win will go a long way into helping the team develop a win-on-the-road mentality, and he is hoping that comes today against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.

“Win. Just win one,” Jackson said.

The Browns held fourth-quarter leads over the Saints and the Raiders, the latter of which was a two-score advantage in the waning minutes, and in preparation for the Buccaneers, the focus was on finishing opportunities on the road.

“We just have to finish the game,” Jackson said. “We had a couple of chances in New Orleans to put that game away. We did not. We had chances in Oakland to put that game away. We did not. The thing that I think is important is that we have had chances. Now, we just have to get over that other hump of doing it and just making sure that we are finishing.

“It has been a long time since we have even been at the door on the road. The last time that I can remember was back in Miami that hits my mind in 2016. It is small victories for us that way from myself, but it is not what we want. We want to go win the game. That is why we are playing it. Our guys are going to do everything, and our coaching staff is going to do everything that we can to go win this game.”
