Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett named to PFWA All-AFC Team

In his second season in the league, the former No. 1 pick tallied 13.5 sacks.

The Cleveland Browns' 2018 season might be over, but the honors keep coming for Myles Garrett.

On Tuesday, the Pro Football Writers of America revealed its all-league and all-conference teams. And following what was a stellar sophomore season, Garrett made the cut, having been selected as one of two defensive ends on the group's All-AFC Team.

Garrett's new honor is just the latest in an offseason that's been full of them for the former No. 1 overall pick. In December, Garrett -- alongside Browns rookie cornerback Denzel Ward -- was selected to his first Pro Bowl, while earlier this month. the NFL named him second-team All-Pro.

The 23-year-old's growing resume comes as the result of a 2018 campaign in which he tallied 44 tackles and 13.5 sacks in 16 games. At season's end, Garrett ranked fourth in the AFC in sacks, trailing only Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt, Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones and Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller -- each of whom joined him on the PFWA's All-AFC team.

Following his selection to the Pro Bowl, Garrett admitted he was proud of the accomplishment. He also stated it was just the first of many goals he still has for his NFL career, which began with no shortage of expectations after the Browns selected him out of Texas A&M with the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

“It is nice. Step one of many steps to come, and hopefully, many more," Garrett said.

Those remaining steps?

“Two, All-Pro. Step three, Defensive Player of the Year. Step four, win it all.”
