Trevor Bauer opens up about relationship comments: 'Why would I want to hurt someone? I don't want to play with anybody's emotions'

Speaking to WKYC's Dave Chudowsky at Spring Training, Cleveland Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer elaborated on comments he made to Sports Illustrated regarding relationships.

Trevor Bauer doesn't regret the comments he made to Sports Illustrated about his outlook on relationships.

The Cleveland Indians starting pitcher, however, was willing to elaborate on them.

On Tuesday afternoon, Bauer did just that, discussing with WKYC's Dave Chudowsky the comments from a Sports Illustrated profile that made the rounds on social media earlier in the day. According to Bauer, he means no malice with his now highly publicized three rules for dating -- 1. No feelings, 2. No social media posts and 3. He's going to sleep with other people -- instead stating that the sole intent behind them is honesty.

"I feel like that's the most fair way to handle meeting someone new. Like, "Hey, this is where I'm at. This is who I am. This is what you're getting. If you like it, great. If not, then don't waste your time on me. Go somewhere else,'" Bauer told WKYC. "Like, I don't understand what's so bad about that. To me, it would be way worse to not say that and lead someone on for four or five months and then at the end tell them, 'Oh sorry, I'm not interested.'"

The 28-year-old went on to question why his comments were made out to be such a big deal.

"There's a lot of worse stuff out there about athletes," Bauer said. "I have no interest in that. Why would I want to hurt someone? I don't want to play with anyone's emotions or lead anybody on. That's not fair to them and I don't feel good about myself at the end of the day. So I might as well just tell them straight up."
