RECAP: Cleveland Indians top Los Angeles Dodgers in Spring Training action

A 2-run Eric Haase home run proved to be the pivotal play in the Cleveland Indians' 4-2 Spring Training victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night.

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- With the start of the 2019 season just nine days away, the Cleveland Indians picked up a Spring Training victory, beating the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 in Glendale on Tuesday.

Catcher Eric Haase hit a 2-run home run in the seventh inning to give the Indians' the final lead of the game, before tacking on an insurance run when he scored on a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth. Starting pitcher Shane Bieber didn't earn the victory for Cleveland but did put forth an impressive performance, allowing five hits and two earned runs to go along with six strikeouts in five innings of action.

What follows is a running recap of the Indians' victory over the Dodgers:

Indians 4, Dodgers 2: Jared Robinson makes the final pitching appearance for Cleveland, retiring all three batters he faces in order to end the game.

Middle of ninth

Indians 4, Dodgers 2: A Nellie Rodriguez sacrifice fly knocks in Eric Haase to tack on an insurance run for the Tribe.

End of eighth

Indians 3, Dodgers 2: Nick Goody on in relief for the Tribe. Records three straight outs, beginning with an impressive over the shoulder snag by Trayce Thompson to rob Paulo Orlando of a hit.

Middle of eighth

Indians 3, Dodgers 2: Alexis Pantoja records a 2-out double, but that's all the offense the Indians are able to muster.

End of seventh

Indians 3, Dodgers 2: A.J. Cole comes on in relief, recording a 1-2-3 inning for the Tribe.

Middle of seventh

Indians 3, Dodgers 2: Eric Stamets draws a walk and Eric Haase drives him in with a 2-run home run on a full count to put the Indians back on top.

End of sixth:

Dodgers 2, Indians 1: Shane Bieber done for the night after 5 innings, 5 hits, 2 earned runs, six strikeouts and no walks.

Justin Grimm and Tyler Olson each come on in relief and avoid adding any damage -- thanks in large part to A.J. Pollock's unsuccessful attempt to turn a double into a triple.

Middle of sixth

Dodgers 2, Indians 1: Greg Allen gets on base and advances to second with his third steal of the night, but is unable to tie the game up with Trayce Thompson and Max Moroff striking out for the second and third outs.

End of fifth

Dodgers 2, Indians 1: Daniel Castro reaches base on a single and advances to thrid on a steal and error, but fails to tack on another run for the Dodgers with Shane Bieber striking out Max Muncy to end the inning.

Middle of fifth

Dodgers 2, Indians 1: Tyler Naquin and Jose Ramirez each make good contact, but ultimately flyout, to start the inning, with a Jake Bauers flyout of his own making it a 1-2-3 inning.

End of fourth

Dodgers 2, Indians 1: A.J. Pollock leads off with a home run and Russell Martin follows it up with a solo homer of his own as the Dodgers take their first lead of the evening.

Middle of fourth

Indians 1, Dodgers 0: Greg Allen leads off with a single and proceeds to steal both second and third base, but is ultimately unable to score with a Hanley Ramirez stirkeout ending the Indians' time at bat.

End of third

Indians 1, Dodgers 0: Shane Bieber finds himself in his first jam of the game, allowing consecutive hits after striking out Alex Verdugo to start the inning. But even after loading the bases with two outs, Bieber gets out of the inning unscathed, striking out Max Muncy to close the third.

Middle of third

Indians 1, Dodgers 0: Tyler Naquin gets aboard with a 2-out hit and then goes first-to-third following a Jose Ramirez single to left. Jake Bauers completes the 2-out rally with a single of his own, knocking in Naquin to give Cleveland the first lead of the game.

End of second

Indians 0, Dodgers 0: Cleveland keeps the Dodgers off the board -- and off base -- with shortstop Eric Stamets providing the highlight of the night thus far when he robs David Freese of a would-be single with a diving catch.

Middle of second

Indians 0, Dodgers 0: Greg Allen, Trayce Thompson and Max Moroff go down in order as Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler records a 1-2-3 inning of his own.

End of first

Indians 0, Dodgers 0: 1-2-3 inning for Shane Bieber, who records a pair of flyouts before striking out A.J. Pollock to end the inning.

Middle of first

Indians 0, Dodgers 0: Hanley Ramirez and Tyler Naquin hit back to back doubles to start the inning, but are ultimately kept on base following a Jose Ramirez strikeout, consecutive fielder's choices by Jake Bauers and Kevin Plawecki.
