Lorain County softball pitcher breaks state record

Keystone's Sydney Campbell won her 52nd consecutive game on Tuesday

LAGRANGE, Ohio —  It’s a record breaking softball program with a record breaking pitcher.

The Keystone High School Wildcats just won its 50th consecutive game and Sydney Campbell just pitched her 52nd consecutive win.

“There’s no way I can do it without my teammates,” says Campbell.  “It’s an honor to wear this jersey every chance I get.”

Campbell started playing softball at the age of 5.

“I was able to follow her ever since she was little and you know a lot of people doubted how good she could be and I could tell she had the desire to become a great pitcher,” explains Head Keystone Softball Coach Jim Piazza.

“If you’re not a strikeout pitcher when you’re young, everybody doesn’t think you’re going to be very good and she did a great job of working on her game.”

Campbell will attend Oakland University in Michigan to play Division I softball where she plans to study elementary education.

One day she wants to come back to Keystone to coach softball.
