Travis Kelce, Stipe Miocic among latest athletes set to play in Jarvis Landry Celebrity Softball Game

Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce and former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic are among the latest athletes to commit to playing in the inaugural Jarvis Landry Celebrity Softball Game this summer.

CLEVELAND — When Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry spoke with the media at Classic Park in Eastlake Thursday to promote the upcoming inaugural Jarvis Landry Celebrity Softball Game, he promised there would be well-known personalities from across all of sports and entertainment…and the four-time Pro Bowler delivered in a big way.

On Friday, the Lake County Captains and Clear Vision Marketing announced several participants for the event, including Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce, New Orleans Saints defensive back Marshon Lattimore, Browns defensive back Denzel Ward, Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Jordan Clarkson and former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic.

Kelce (Cleveland Heights), Lattimore (Cleveland/Glenville High School), Ward (Macedonia/Nordonia High School) and Miocic (Euclid/Eastlake North High School) are Northeast Ohio natives.

Earlier this spring, it was announced that Browns defensive end Myles Garrett and tight end David Njoku would participate in the event, and they will be joined by players from across the National Football League.

Other NFL players expected to participate include Philadelphia Eagles running back Corey Clement, Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Davon Godchaux and defensive back Xavien Howard, Saints defensive back Justin Hardee, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Donte Moncrief and Chiefs running back James Williams.

Additionally, Browns wide receivers Blake Jackson and Jaelen Strong, linebackers Christian Kirksey and Mack Wilson, YouTube sensation Donald De La Haye, Cavaliers forward John Henson and former Browns receiver Andrew Hawkins will participate in the Jarvis Landry Celebrity Softball Game, which will benefit the Lake Health Foundation.

“It’s part of the reason why I’m here, and when I say here, it’s not exactly Cleveland,” Landry said. “I’m just in a position and the platform that I have, to be able to inspire kids, to be able to do football camps, to be able to be in the community, to be able to partner with these guys and put something together for the community, for charity, for bigger things than myself.

“For me, I personally believe that’s what God put me here to do, be an influence, be an inspiration to other people and help.”

The inaugural Jarvis Landry and Friends Celebrity Softball Game will take place at Classic Park in Eastlake on Saturday, June 15. Gates will open at 3 p.m. with the Home Run Derby beginning at 4 p.m. and the softball game to follow at 5 p.m.

Landry will participate in the Home Run Derby alongside select celebrity guests and professional softball players. Following that competition, the seven-inning softball game will feature interactive experiences between players and fans, as well as giveaways and the chance for select fans to get autographs.

Tickets for the event range from $20 to $47. Fans can purchase bleacher seats for $20, Premium Box Seats rows A and B for $47. Lower Box Seats in rows C and D for $37, and all other box seats will be $27.

Tickets can be purchased at captainsbaseball.com, jarvislandrysoftball.com or by calling the Captains’ Box Office at 440-954-WINS (9467).
