Madden 20 ratings: Odell Beckham Jr. leads Cleveland Browns with a 96

On Monday, EA Sports released its initial round of rookie ratings for the Madden 20 video game with Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. laying claim to a 96 score.

CLEVELAND -- "Madden 20" isn't scheduled to hit shelves for another two weeks.

But fans now know what they'll be in store for when they pick up the latest installment of football's most popular video game.

On Monday, EA Sports released the first round of player ratings that will be featured in the "Madden 20" game when it releases on Aug. 2. In doing so, it revealed how it has ranked each member of the Cleveland Browns, with Odell Beckham Jr. measuring as the team's top player.

Laying claim to a 96 (out of 99) rating, Beckham ranks as the fourth-best wide receiver in this year's edition of Madden. The former New York Giants wideout is one of three Browns players to be ranked in the 90s, joining defensive end Myles Garrett (91) and running back Kareem Hunt (91).

This year, Madden appears to be taking a more conservative approach to its ratings, as evidenced by Baker Mayfield's 83, which is the same rating he ended his rookie season with in Madden 19's updated rosters. For comparison's sake, Mayfield's rating is tied for the 11th best of any quarterback entering this year's game, putting him ahead of fellow signal-callers such as Deshaun Watson (82), Carson Wentz (82) and Dak Prescott (81).

Player ratings are updated on a weekly basis throughout the season via an online server.

Also of note: While Mayfield's rating may seemingly leave something to be desired, EA Sports appears to be high on the Browns. In June, it was reported that Cleveland would enter the game with an 87 overall team rating, which would have made it one of the highest ranked teams in last year's game.
