Police in Greensboro, North Carolina, have filed a felony arrest warrant for former Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Desmond Harrison.

A Greensboro Police spokesman told Yahoo Sports that a report filed against Harrison on Tuesday resulted in a warrant being issued for charges of assault on a person by strangulation and assault on a female by a male.

News of Harrison's warrant was first reported by Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report.

The Browns cut Harrison in June after he failed to attend the first day of the team's mandatory minicamp due to flight issues. He had since signed with the Arizona Cardinals, although the team announced on Wednesday that it had released the 25-year-old shortly after news of his arrest warrant was made public.

After originally beginning his college career at Texas, off-field issues and suspensions landed him in junior college and eventually West Georgia, where he spent the 2017 season. Despite being projected to be selected in a mid-round of the 2018 NFL Draft, he ultimately went undrafted before signing with the Browns as a free agent.

After starting the first eight games of his NFL career as Cleveland's starting left tackle, injuries and inconsistencies resulted in Greg Robinson replacing him in the Browns' starting lineup. Despite not being projected as a starter entering 2019, Cleveland was counting on Harrison to provide depth at both of its offensive tackle spots prior to his June release.

After being claimed off waivers by Arizona, Harrison outlined his plan for being more reliable to the Cardinals' official website.

“I’ll just show that with my actions,” he said. “My guys are going to hold me accountable, as well as the coaches.”
