Most people dream of their parents being a part of their wedding day. But as many people come to understand due to health risks and deaths, it’s not always possible.

In an effort to avoid that scenario, a local man held a special wedding service at Cleveland’s VA Medical Center Sunday.

Zeke, 28, and his fiancee, 23, couldn't image their big day without Zeke's father, Fred Miller.

So when they found out Miller was having complications after having a heart transplant nearly 30 years ago, the two sprung into action.

The pair held the ceremony inside VA’s chapel and held a short reception after, that even featured Fred's favorite snack--brownies.

The two will officially wed in October 2021.

Miller served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970 before returning home to Northeast Ohio and working for U.S. Steel.
