CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns take on the New York Jets on Monday Night Football tonight, but just because the Browns are away doesn’t mean you have to stay home.

The game starts at 8:15 p.m. on ESPN and Channel 3, but if you’re like a lot of people without a TV, you’re going to need to get out and find a place to watch.

We’ve done the legwork for you and put together some options so you and your friends don’t miss a down.

(Pssst… If you’d rather keep to yourself and watch on your own TV or stream the game, we’ll help you out with that, too, once we’re done drooling over all the spots you can catch the matchup in town.)

DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND

Credit: Dive Bar
Dive Bar is hosting a Monday Night Football watch party starting at 6 p.m. on September 16, ahead of the Cleveland Browns taking on the New York Jets.

Dive Bar

Kick off might not be until 8:15 p.m., but the MNF Dive bar watch party starts at 6 p.m. at the corner of West 6th Street and Lakeside Avenue.

The underground sports bar can be tough to find if you don’t know where you’re going because it’s hiding under the Ivy. But once you walk in, you’ll know you’re in Browns town.

Lago East Bank

This indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant has multiple rooms with tons of TVs and a large projector on the patio so you can watch the game with the waterfront as your backdrop, so long as the weather holds out.

The vibe at 1091 West 10th Street will be made that much better with $3 draft beer specials throughout the game.

City Tap Cleveland

With 44 beers on tap and a full liquor bar, even the thirstiest dawg will be satisfied at City Tap, at 750 Prospect Avenue East.

On typical weekdays the bar has “power hour” between 8-9 p.m. when almost all drafts and bottles are just $3. There’s also a pool table to keep yourself occupied during halftime.

THE WEST SIDE

Twist Social Club

This Lakewood staple at 11633 Clifton Blvd is home to the world’s only LGBTQIA Browns Backers club. They call themselves the “Browns Backers with a Twist” and during the 2018 season the group raised over $6,000 for local causes.

The group is all-inclusive, so allies are welcome to join in the fun which includes giveaways and games at end of each quarter… like free bar tabs! The crew in charge will be there by 7:30 p.m. but you might want to show up even earlier to grab a set, because it gets pretty packed and by kick-off it’ll be standing room only.

The special menu for games includes a Baker Burger, with food available until around 10 p.m. There are four TVs positioned around the bar and one big screen projector to make sure everyone has a great view. While you watch, you can also grab your own hoodie or t-shirt to show your pride long after the Browns bring home that first W.

Around the Corner

Around the Corner is a low-key joint in Lakewood with 19 TVs all together, with nine on the patio and 10 inside, making it a perfect place to catch the Browns first MNF game this season.

The bar will be serving up buy-one-get-one-free burgers and $3 drafts all night long so come hungry and thirsty when you show up to cheer on our guys at 18616-20 Detroit Avenue.

THE EAST SIDE

Fox & Hound

With dozens of TVs, nine pool tables, darts in the back room and a ping pong table, there is plenty to keep you occupied if you want to head to the Fox & Hound in Mayfield Heights right from work to catch the game.

The bar is offering its usual all-day Monday specials, including $3 regular domestic drafts, $4 fireball shots and $8 for a half rack of ribs. To fuel up before game time, there are also seven appetizer options that are only $7 between 3-7 p.m.

If you don’t like to fight for parking, this might be the best option for you with plenty of spots right out front of the Fox & Hound in the Eastgate Shopping Plaza at 1479 S.O.M. Center Road in Mayfield Heights.

Oak and Embers Tavern

This barbecue, bourbon and beer joint is extending is everyday happy hour to run all game long while the Browns face off against the Jets. That means $1 off well drinks, $1 off all draft beers, $4 house wine and $3 domestic bottles for fans that head to Oak and Embers Tavern at 8003 Mayfield Road in Chesterland on Monday.

There’s plenty of seating surrounding 17 TVs (including some on the patio) to sit back, relax and watch the game. The tavern is also giving away a Browns victory fridge at the end of the season. Every time you go there to watch a game you’ll get another chance to win.

SOUTH CLEVELAND

Hooley House

This Irish sports pub and grille at 10310 Cascade Crossing in Brooklyn always gives the people what they want during game time: discounts on beer and apple pie shots.

The bar can seat over 200 people and has plenty of screens for the crowd to watch Baker Mayfield lead the team to victory. There are 35 TVs inside and three projection screens, measuring over 100 inches.

Grindstone Tap House

The Berea Browns Backers knew what they were doing when they made this place their headquarters. The menu at 826 Front Street in Berea makes this place an early favorite. There’s a hot pretzel with truffle cheese fondue, chicken braised nachos, mini tacos tossed in buffalo sauce and five spice sweet potato fries. As if all of that wasn’t enough, the chef picks his own special item to offer up to hungry football fans every single game day. And lucky for us, Mondays just happen to be $6 burger night.

During Browns games the craft beer gastro pub also offers $3 Bud Light Aluminum bottles that you can sip while watching any of three large projection screens, three large TVs on one side of the room, or one of seven screens wrapped around the entire bar. Berea Browns Backers also get special treatment so make sure you check in on how to get a roster spot on the squad.

FOR THE HOMEBODIES

If none of these suggestions do it for you and you’re committed to staying in, but don’t have a cable subscription that includes ESPN, all hope is not lost.

If you stream with Hulu with live TV, DirecTV Now, YouTube TV, PlayStation Vue or Sling’s Orange package, ESPN should be included in your base plan.

You can also watch tonight’s game with us on WKYC Channel 3 (and again on Sunday, Sept. 22 against the Los Angeles Rams and Monday, Oct. 7 against the San Francisco 49ers).

For those who watch Channel 3 over-the-air, our new antenna is up and broadcasting our signal just in time for tonight's game. (The FCC mandated a frequency switch back in August, which disrupted viewing for some.)

We've got instructions for how to rescan your antenna here.
