AKRON, Ohio — Fire and police officials in Akron are sorting out the details after a blaze at a home on Cranz Place that was apparently set off by a 15-year-old boy sent his grandfather to the hospital.
The fire happened just after 1:00 A.M. on Monday morning. When crews arrrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the second floor of the house. The flames were put out quickly, but one man was injured.
On Monday afternoon, Akron fire officials announced that the fire was set off by a 15-year-old boy and his grandfather was the man who suffered the injuries in the fire.
The teen has been arrested and faces arson and attempted murder charges, while his grandfather is currently in the burn unit ICU at an area hospital.
A dog perished in the fire, however firefighters were able to save three cats.
