Man in critical condition after fire breaks out at Cleveland apartment building, firefighter also hospitalized; GALLERY

The firefighter is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

CLEVELAND — A 68-year-old man is in critical condition and a firefighter has also been hospitalized after a blaze at an apartment building in downtown Cleveland on Wednesday evening. 

The fire happened at a building on East 13th Street. 

According to Lt. Mike Norman of the Cleveland Fire Department, a 68-year-old man was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in critical condition. 

A firefighter was also transported to MetroHealth Medical Center. Lt. Norman reports the firefighter is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery. 

The fire was on the 14th floor of the apartment building and appears to have been put out by the sprinkler system.
