Police find 68-year-old man fatally stabbed in his Akron home

AKRON, Ohio — Akron police are investigating the suspected murder of a 68-year-old man found dead in his home in the 800 block of Wilmot Street Thursday night. 

Officers responded to the home just after 9:30 PM for a welfare check after the man  had not been heard from in awhile. 

Police went into the home and found the man had been stabbed.

The victim’s vehicle, a 2005 dark blue Subaru Outback is missing from the home and is now listed as a stolen vehicle. The plate number on the vehicle is Ohio Registration DJR-2214.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending positive identification and family notifications.

No suspect(s) have been identified at this time and the incident remains under investigation.
