Catching up with former Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis

Hillis spent two seasons (2010 and 2011) in the backfield with the Browns. In 2010, Hillis accumulated 1,177 yards on 270 carries.

CLEVELAND — Peyton Hillis is a fan favorite of Browns Nation. And the former running back is still a fan of Cleveland and those who cheer on the Browns.

“The Browns sum me up as a person. I love that they are old school. Everything about them is the epitome of who I am. There’s something about being a Brown that just envelops your soul, it makes you feel like you are loved. It’s the best therapy session you could ever be in.”

Those monster numbers, along with help from fan voting, helped him grace the cover of Madden NFL 12.

That is an experience Hillis will never forget. “I didn’t think I had a shot at all. When I talked to the guys at EA Sports, they said it wasn’t even close with the voting. Browns fans did you a great favor.”

Hillis now lives in Arkansas.

He says he follows the Browns and will always be a big supporter of the franchise.

Jim Donovan caught up with Hillis and they talked about his playing days and his thoughts on last week’s 38-6 loss in Baltimore.

“In my opinion, the running back core is there. There was some bad chemistry on that side of the ball. We made a lot of mistakes, but I have a big positive outlook for that offense in the future.”

Hillis and Keith Migra have started a podcast that Cleveland sports fans would enjoy.

“In the Backfield” touches on all things sports, including the Browns, Indians and Cavs. Hillis said he can add a unique perspective as a former professional athlete.

Watch this interview for more on Peyton’s thoughts on the current Browns and the time he spent in Cleveland. Hillis and Migra also talk about their podcast, which they consider a “must listen” for Cleveland sports fans.
