AKRON, Ohio — It’s time!

Tickets for the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad’s 2020 Polar Express experience are now on sale, and they are expected to sell out quickly as capacity is limited to 50 percent this year amid COVID-19 precautions. While CVSR members could purchase their tickets starting Sept. 22, the general public can now buy their tickets starting Wednesday.

“Last year CVSR sold out this event with more than 46,000 tickets,” officials said in a press release. “This year the organization will be selling half that amount and is expecting to sell out by the end of the day on Oct. 14 when tickets go on sale to the general public.”

The Polar Express event is one of the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad's most popular annual attractions. It’s a train ride that carries guests on a wintry journey through the valley, complete with hot cocoa, cookies and a visit to the North Pole.

“Due to cancellation of our trains ride this year and running 50% capacity for the remainder of the year, a large portion of the income it takes to operate our aging fleet has been lost,” said Mazur. “In addition to early access to tickets, membership makes it possible to keep our trains on the tracks.”
