Game preview

While the Browns enter Week 12 riding a two-game winning streak and in pole position in the AFC Wild Card race, Cleveland has spent the past week facing no shortage of adversity.

With star defensive end Myles Garrett set to miss his second straight game after being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the Browns were forced to shut down their facility for multiple days leading up to their game against the Jaguars due to multiple players testing positive for the coronavirus. Factor in star cornerback Denzel Ward suffering a calf injury that will keep him sidelined for multiple weeks and Cleveland will undeniably enter Sunday's contest shorthanded.

Fortunately for the Browns, however, Jacksonville is of the worst teams in the NFL and will be starting its third-string quarterback, Mike Glennon, for the first time all season. Winning on the road, of course, is rarely easy in the NFL and Cleveland will have to do just that to keep pace in the AFC Wild Card race.

Prediction

With Sunday's forecast in Jacksonville calling for rain, the Browns could very well be playing in the elements for a fourth straight game. On the one hand, that could help level the playing field for the less talented Jaguars. On the other, Cleveland will feel right at home.

Just as they've done the past two weeks, look for the Browns to give a heavy workload to running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt while putting Baker Mayfield in a position to make just enough plays. Jacksonville rookie running back James Robinson could prove tough to handle, but ultimately, the Jaguars lack the firepower to keep pace with a Browns team built to play in lousy weather.

Final score: Browns 24, Jaguars 10
