The Ohio Department of Health has launched a new tool where Ohioans can select their county or their ZIP code to see a list of providers that received or will receive vaccine doses.

3News Senior Health Correspondent Monica Robins has provided a couple of key things to know as we go forward in the process of vaccinations:

  • COVID vaccines are available by APPOINTMENT ONLY. And only to those in the age group or categories 1A, 1B, 1C, and 2.
  • You should register to get your vaccine now. This is only to be notified when it's your turn to get an appointment. You can do this with your health department, hospital system or pharmacy. Check the navigation guide link below for more details and locations.
  • When you get your appointment, you will also be scheduled for your second shot appointment. You will receive a card indicating which vaccine you received.
  • Ohio is implementing age guidelines that are staggered thru the next few weeks. However, just because 65-year-olds are supposed to start on Feb. 8, that doesn't mean that's when you'll get called for your appointment. Much will depend on the supply of vaccine to the state, county and provider you've registered with. They will continue vaccinating those who registered in the previous age group until it's time to move on to the next.
  • Which is why you should register now, at various locations, to at least save a place in line. However, if you do get the call and get vaccinated, please give a courtesy call to the other locations to remove yourself from their registry.
  • Not all providers have a registration page available on their website yet.  You may try calling.
  • For your loved ones in Cuyahoga County who do not have access to a computer, as of Monday, Jan. 25, you can call the United Way's 2-1-1 HelpLink for assistance in registering to receive a vaccine.
  • In Stark and Summit counties, you can also reach out to The Extra Daughter LLC at 330-289-7519. The company has helped people in Akron and Canton apply online and also takes older adults to their appointments.
  • Another resource to help is the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging. They will not only give you vaccine information and registration, but also transportation you to your appointment if needed. They serve Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain and Medina counties. You can call 844-304-0004 and they can help guide you through the registration process and find you transportation as well.
  • Can I sue if I have a bad reaction to COVID vaccine or treatment? Click here to find out more about the Public Readiness Emergency Preparedness Act (PREP). It answers whether or not people can sue RX companies if they suffer death or bad reaction to a vaccine or other COVID treatment.
  • Finally...HAVE PATIENCE. As demand is increasingly high, it may impact websites and phone systems.

Here is a rundown of what we know from county and city health departments as well as from Northeast Ohio's hospitals and pharmacies. (Note: This is a developing list and will be updated as more outlets provide information to 3News.)
