Summit County Public Health to offer Pfizer booster vaccinations by appointment only

The booster shot will be available via a drive-thru clinic every Wednesday and Friday until Oct. 15.

Summit County Public Health will be one of the first locations in Northeastern Ohio to offer the Pfizer Booster Vaccination to those who are eligible.

The booster shot will be available via a drive-thru clinic every Wednesday and Friday until Oct. 15.

The clinic will take place at 1867 W. Market St. in Akron. The Pfizer booster vaccine will be offered Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Everyone who attends the clinic will be required to always wear a mask.

SCPH will also be offering the first and second dose of all three COVID-19 vaccinations while supplies last.

SCPH will follow CDC guidance on who can receive the Pfizer booster shot. Those aged 65 and older and received their second dose of the second vaccine will be eligible for their booster. The following are the other individuals who are eligible to get the booster.

  • Ages 50-64 with underlying medical conditions
  • Ages 18-64 with certain underlying medical conditions 
  • People ages 18-64 who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of an occupational or institutional setting.

In lieu of the recent COVID-19 spread throughout the state of Ohio, SCPH is encouraging residents both vaccinated and unvaccinated to practice safe behaviors, including staying home even if you are sick with mild symptoms and the following:

Be mindful in your interactions with others. Limit your chances of exposure by maintaining social distancing of at least six feet from non-household members

  • Wear a mask in public
  • Follow good hygiene standards:
  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Use hand sanitizer frequently
  • Avoid touching your face
