While the Cleveland Browns are still determining quarterback Baker Mayfield's status for the game, they already know they'll be without two other key members of their backfield this week. On Tuesday, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski revealed that Nick Chubb will miss his second straight game due to a calf injury when Cleveland hosts the Denver Broncos on Thursday night.

With Kareem Hunt having been placed on injured reserve with a calf injury of his own, the Browns will be without their top two running backs against the Broncos. According to Stefanski, D'Ernest Johnson will get the start at running back for the Browns, with Demetric Felton and John Kelly also possessing the potential the play roles in Cleveland's backfield against Denver.

Chubb's prolonged absence is just the latest blow to a Browns roster that's been ravaged by injuries over the course of the past two weeks. In addition to Chubb, Cleveland was without its two starting offensive tackles, Jedrick Wills Jr. and Jack Conklin, in what was ultimately a 37-14 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Over the course of the game, Mayfield reaggravated a left shoulder injury that he had initially suffered earlier in the season, while wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. temporarily left the contest with a shoulder injury of his own. On Tuesday, Stefanski said that the Browns are still determining the availability of Mayfield, Beckham, Wills, Conklin and wide receiver Jarvis Landry -- who has missed Cleveland's past four games with a sprained MCL -- for Thursday night.
