UPDATE: Parma City School District suspends all district operations and activities after another violent threat

'We received another threat of violence this morning'

PARMA, Ohio — EDITOR'S NOTE: The video above previously aired on 3News on May 25, 2022.

UPDATE: July 15, 9:50 a.m. 

Parma City School District has suspended all district operations after receiving another violent threat.

This is the second violent threat reported since Wednesday, July 13. 

According to the Parma Police Department, they learned of this threat at 11:20 p.m. on Thursday, July 14. After learning of the threat, the police department notified the district. 

The Parma City Police Department also confirmed that this threat was unrelated to the previous threat earlier this week. 

The school released a statement on Facebook regarding its decision to cancel all district operations until further notice. 

"We received another threat of violence this morning. Until our law enforcement partners can properly investigate this threat, we are suspending all district operations. All Parma City School District buildings are closed and ALL ACTIVITIES are canceled until further notice, including summer school, extracurricular activities including athletics and band, and summer feeding program. We will provide updates as we are able."

The activities that are being paused include summer school, athletics, band and the district's summer feeding program.

According to the Parma Police Department, this case is under investigation, and no other details of the threat will be released at this time.

The Parma City School District will be closed on Thursday, July 14, after officials say they received a violent threat from a Parma resident.

On Wednesday night, Parma City School District posted a statement on their website regarding the violent threat and announcing the cancelation of summer school classes:

"We are sorry for the late contact, but feel it's important to reach out to you immediately. This evening, we learned that a Parma resident threatened violence against our schools. We are working with the Parma Police Department to ensure that there is no actual threat of danger to our students. However, until we are certain that they have concluded their investigation and feel it is safe for students to attend school, we will not conduct classes. Summer school is canceled for Thursday, July 14. We will provide an update as soon as possible regarding resumption of normal activities."
