Power restored to most impacted customers after outages in Thursday storms

At one point, FirstEnergy was reporting more than 10,000 power outages.

CLEVELAND — A round of severe weather on Thursday afternoon and evening left thousands without power in Northeast Ohio.

At one point, FirstEnergy was reporting more than 10,000 customers has lost power. Friday morning's outage numbers, however, show power has been restored to most customers.

Here are the latest power outage numbers as listed by FirstEnergy as of 5:30 a.m. Friday:

  • Cuyahoga: 205 outages
  • Geauga: 42 outages
  • Portage: 35 outages
  • Summit: 310 outages
  • Trumbull: 553 outages

The storm, which triggered a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for several counties, caused damage to trees around the area, including this one captured by our photojournalist Carl Bachtel in Cleveland Heights.

And according to 3News Meteorologist Jason Mikell, things are not about to improve right away.

"What is to follow in the wake of the front will be a quick change to much colder weather," Mikell said. "Temperatures in the 30s arrive in the evening and periods of rain become a cold, dreary, possibly mixed precipitation type of event for Friday."

Full on scattered, light snows could also arrive Friday into Saturday because of the 30-degree temperatures.
