Former Ohio State football player indicted in central Ohio bank robberies being held on $150,000 bond

Franklin County Court of Common Pleas records say 25-year-old Marcus Williamson was indicted on 25 charges, including 18 counts of robbery.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Franklin County judge set a $150,000 bond for a former Ohio State football player accused of robbing nine banks in central Ohio between March and April.

Franklin County Court of Common Pleas records say 25-year-old Marcus Williamson was indicted on 25 charges, including 18 counts of robbery. The alleged robberies happened between March 7 and April 24. He pleaded not guilty on Monday.

On April 24, Williamson allegedly entered the First Merchant's Bank on North High Street. Williamson approached the teller and gave them a note saying he was demanding money and he was armed with a gun, documents say. The teller complied and gave Williamson an unspecified amount of cash.

A detective previously testified Williamson had a pattern of driving the same Jeep, wearing latex gloves and a mask. He would then pass them a note saying he was demanding cash. Authorities placed a GPS tracking device on the Jeep when police say they watched him walk out of the First Merchant's Bank with cash. Williamson was taken into custody moments later.

During his arraignment on Monday, prosecutors said all of the notes Williamson would pass to the tellers stated that he was demanding money. Some of the notes said he also had a gun. Prosecutors said Williamson matched the description in all nine robberies and he was captured on surveillance and Flock cameras at several locations.

Prosecutors asked for a bond of at least $500,000.

Williamson is currently booked in the Franklin County jail.
