AKRON, Ohio — A New York man will spend 30 years behind bars for the 2018 killing of a North Olmsted man at a Bath Township rest stop off Interstate 77.
Paul Randall, 35, of Dogleville, New York, pleaded guilty Monday to the attack and death of 43-year-old Scott Reichard. His charges included:
- Aggravated vehicular homicide
- Failure to stop after an accident
- Felonious assault
- Tampering with evidence
- Theft of drugs
- Grand theft of a motor vehicle
- Operating a vehicle under the influence
- Driving under suspension
Judge Alison Breaux sentenced Randall to 30 years in prison and suspended his license for life following his plea.
The incident happened Aug. 17, 2018, when Randall and Reichard were involved in an altercation at the rest stop. Authorities said Randall stole Reichard's Ford F-350 and knocked him to the ground, running him over with the truck. Reichard died at the scene.
The truck was later found abandoned in a downtown Cleveland parking lot. Randall was arrested the next day in Guernsey County.
