Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is set for surgery Wednesday in California to repair the torn labrum in his left shoulder.

“Appreciate all the prayers and good luck wishes on the surgery tomorrow,” Mayfield posted in an Instagram story on Tuesday. “Excited to get it done and start the road to recovery tomorrow. I’ll keep y’all updated. Thankful to have an amazing support group to help through this process.”

Mayfield’s injury, which happened in Week 2 against the Houston Texans, was confirmed in early October.

"It's attached. I'm alright," Mayfield said in postgame press conference while addressing the injury last year. "It's my left shoulder. I throw with my right."

Mayfield ultimately chose not to play in the season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Jake Trotter of ESPN is reporting that Dr. Orr Limpisvasti is performing the surgery. Dr. Limpisvasti is currently listed on NHL.com as being in his seventh season as orthopedic surgeon for the Anaheim Ducks.

“He continues to actively publish research in the field of orthopedic surgery and sports medicine,” according to the NHL. “His research and clinical interests include shoulder, elbow, and knee injuries.”
